Beginning Orchestra
The beginning orchestra class is made up of students who have never played before and also students who have prior experience. The students in this class learn how to hold their instruments with good posture and instrument position, how to count, clap, and play rhythms, how to read, identify, and play notes by name, adjust intonation while playing/listening, how to play as individuals, and how to play as an orchestra.
Class requirements:
Violin/Viola players must have a shoulder rest
Cello/Bass players must have a rock stop
All students must have Essential Elements for Strings vol. 1 (for the appropriate instrument)
Students must keep their finger nails clipped short
Students must practice every night (the material we cover during class)
Attend one concert per quarter and evaluate it
Perform in the concerts listed in the course disclosure
